This past summer, the Lady Falcons Girls Basketball Team entered uncharted waters. As a team, we began creating new traditions while working toward building a successful program rooted in a strong, positive culture and the standards necessary to compete at the high school level.
The Lady Falcons were eager to learn and participated in a summer program designed to develop the skills, basketball IQ, teamwork, and confidence needed to compete at the high school level. We welcomed several junior high girls basketball players, younger brothers of SLHS players, and even a boys’ 7th/8th-grade basketball team, which competed in several summer tournaments.
We also hosted the first-ever girls basketball tournament in SLHS history. The tournament featured Dayton High School, Carson High School, and Virginia City High School. The Lady Falcons faced a broad range of competition, losing to Dayton by just three points and Carson by 13 points. The team’s resiliency and competitiveness were on full display as the Lady Falcons bounced back to defeat Virginia City by 20 points.
Carson High ultimately came away victorious and was crowned the champion of the inaugural SLHS Girls Get Buckets Tournament. More importantly, our players gained valuable experience and continued to demonstrate the toughness, determination, and team-first mentality we are working to establish within our program.
The Lady Falcons have continued to hold open gyms on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at SLHS. If you are planning to participate in girls basketball this upcoming season, I would like to invite you to attend an open gym. If you are feeling apprehensive or unsure about joining, please feel free to talk with one of the Lady Falcons players or with me. We would love to have you join us!
As a reminder to all players and parents, the Winter Sports Meeting will be held on November 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at SLHS.
The first day of tryouts will be Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
The Lady Falcons are eagerly awaiting the start of the 2026–27 basketball season and are excited about what we can accomplish together.
Go Falcons!
