The Falcon varsity volleyball team sits at seven wins and four losses and holds third place in the league heading into the final stretch of the season.
Meagan Friend played with all of her heart this past weekend, starting as middle blocker against both West Wendover and Battle Mountain. Amena Wilhelm continues to shine as a defensive specialist, posting 10 serving aces, 49 digs and 34 serve receives. Freshman Arabella Mendoza stepped in at opposite during Saturday’s game against Battle Mountain and made an immediate impact with her left-handed hits and an impressive jump serve.
The JV squad is right in the mix as well, sitting fourth in the league with a 4-3 record. Carly Schroder leads the group as one of the team’s setters and has amazing serves. She is always selling out for her teammates and going after every ball. Bella Da Silva has been stepping up at setter too, bringing great energy to the court. Maddie Cortese has been a handful for opponents with a wicked serve and a mean attack.
The Falcons return home Wednesday, October 14th against North Tahoe for senior night. Come out and cheer on the girls — a loud, packed gym makes a real difference down the stretch, and these teams feed off the energy from the crowd. Bring your voice and help send our seniors off right.
