The Leo Mikelonis Memorial Invitational

Saturday, October 3, 2026, was the Leo Mikelonis Memorial Invitational put on by Spanish Springs High School in Sparks. It was held at the Golden Eagle Park and Sports Complex. The course ran through the park, out into the desert, back around the ball fields, then finishing on the soccer field. The weather could not have been more perfect. It was sunny, with light clouds and no wind.

The first race was the Varsity Boys with 120 runners. Eli Woelfel came in 73rd with a time of 19:45, and Camden McSweeney came in 107th with a time of 22:29. These times were Season Best’s (SB) for both of them.

The last race was the Junior Varsity Girls with 64 runners. Isis Riley came in 3rd with a time of 25:01. This was a Season Best for her as well.

“I am so proud of the athletes. They ran their best and gave it their all. They are in a good position for finishing out their season and heading into the post-season,” said Coach Williams. “We still have work to do and will continue to work hard.”

Next up is the Legacy Lions Run at Empire Golf Course in Carson City, this coming Saturday, October 10th at 9:00 am. Come cheer on the Cross Country athletes!
