This past Saturday, September 26th was the Truckee Invitational meet at Ponderosa Golf Course.
This year there was no frost on the 3.1 mile course, the sun was shining with a soft breeze. This was a large race compared to other races the Falcons have been running.
The first race of the day was the Freshmen/Sophomore Girls race. Isis Riley took off with a total of 119 girls. She powered up the hill and through the course to come in 20th with a time of 25:10. “She did fantastic! She looked strong throughout the race. I am so proud of her,” stated Coach Williams.
The boys Varsity race was the last race of the day. There were a total of 210 runners in that race. Eli Woelfel came in 104th place with a time of 19:52. That was a PR for this race from last year. Jason Wlaschin came in 157th place with a time of 22:06. “Both these boys worked hard and pushed themselves on this course. This is a challenging course in many ways. It is also perfect in preparation for the Regional meet,” said Coach Williams.
Next up is the Leo Mikelonis Memorial Invitational at Golden Eagle Park in Sparks on Saturday, October 3rd. This meet is hosted by Spanish Springs High School. Come cheer on the SLHS Cross Country Team.
