This last Tuesday the girls traveled back to Fallon Golf Course to compete in the Regional tournament. This was the moment they had been working toward all season. With a trip to State on the line, they finished in 1st place and brought home the Regional title for the second straight year.
If you remember, the girls played this course a few weeks ago. It is a challenging 9-hole course that is played twice from different tee boxes. That earlier trip paid off. The girls knew what to expect this time and it showed in how they played.
Once again, Freshman Sidney Smith led the way for our team. She shot a 92 to take 2nd place overall. She has been steady for us all season, and she was steady again when it mattered most.
Right behind her was Lily Sumner, who picked the perfect time to have the best round of her golf career. She shot a 93 to take 3rd place overall. This was the first time Lily has broken 100. To do that at Regionals, with a trip to State on the line, is something she will remember for a long time.
Back-to-back Regional titles! These girls have faced every challenge this season and have come out on top. Each and every one of these Lady Falcons has contributed not only to our scores, but to our morale, enthusiasm and especially perseverance. We are so proud of how they competed and how they have represented our school.
Not all of the girls get to go to State this year, but this title belongs to every one of them. I want to honor each member of our team:
- Brynna Basak
- Briella Bodenstein
- Amalee Brant
- Rossi Erven
- Alycia Fergison
- Jennifer Fleischmann
- Rorie Gunn
- Annie Kiel
- Gabriella Pickard
- Sidney Smith
- Lily Sumner
- Jessie Thomas
- Alissa Waller
Next week we go to Jackpot, and we will do our best to bring home the State title. It has been a great journey for this team and they have one more tournament to finish it. Please keep them in your prayers as they finish strong.
Go Falcons!
