A Note from the Middle School Launch Director
Hello, my name is Tracy Fisher, and I am honored and excited to serve as Sierra Lutheran’s Middle School Launch Director.
A little about me and my background: I am a fourth-generation Nevadan, born in Reno and raised in Douglas County. I earned my teaching degree in general and special education from the University of Nevada, Reno, a master’s degree in education from Cambria University, and a master’s degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University.
After 30 years in public education, I retired from the Washoe County School District, where I had the privilege of serving as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal. Throughout my career, I worked in a wide variety of educational settings, including Title I schools, high socioeconomic schools, and alternative schools. However, much of my career was spent teaching sixth grade—a role that gave me a deep appreciation for the unique opportunities and challenges of the middle school years.
Following my retirement from the school district, I was recruited by the Nevada Department of Education to work with schools throughout Nevada, helping educators support students in developing essential life skills, including self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness. The goal in this position was to create a positive school climate that enhanced student learning.
That work eventually led me to the Nevada System of Higher Education at UNR, where I served as an Implementation Specialist for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, with a focus on student well-being and mental health. I led school teams in identifying strengths, overcoming challenges, and strengthening the systems and foundations that drive student success.
In March 2026, I tried retiring again—but God had other plans! My lifelong friend, Dr. Seddon, introduced me to Pastor Glenn, and two meetings later, here I am. I truly cannot express how excited I am for the opportunity to help Sierra Lutheran build upon its already successful high school by launching a new middle school.
In the coming months, I will be working closely with our school community as we plan, develop, and prepare for the opening of Sierra Lutheran Middle School in Fall 2027.
As we begin this journey, I look forward to getting to know you, hearing your experiences, and learning what matters most to families as they consider the middle school years. I am excited to listen, learn, and work together to create a middle school experience that is academically strong, Christ-centered, relationship-driven, and designed to help students thrive during these important years of their lives.
Please reach out anytime with questions, concerns, ideas, or suggestions. I would love to hear from you and be part of this exciting conversation as we build something special together.
