These two links are handy for signing up to volunteer and reporting your volunteer hours.
As always, we are excited about the school activities coming up. Our school values on-campus parental involvement. PIP hours are not only our way of supplementing help, but they bring more of a community connection between our parents and our school.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
SLHS requires 20 hours of Parent volunteerism for each student. This can be in the form of actual volunteer hours or specific financial contributions. If you are not able to complete your hours, you will be charged at the end of the year for the balance of hours needed.
WHAT IS THE CHARGE?
This ratio is $15 per one hour. Our preference is of course to have parents and guardians to volunteer to help our school. It helps us get to know you better.
WHERE CAN I VOLUNTEER?
PIP opportunities are not listed out, but arise throughout the year. Sign up for our Falcon Times and Keep an eye on our weekly issue that gets emailed on Friday. This is an email that goes out to everyone every Friday. There will be PIP opportunities there.
MOST NEEDED:
Our biggest need for volunteers is with our athletics department. Things like taking stats, working at the snack shack and selling tickets at home games. For most of our athletics PIP hours, we’re using SignUp.com which is an online Sign-Up & reminder tool. The link and how to use this feature is in the footnotes of this letter.
Note: Volunteering at volleyball games is scheduled through the coaches.
COMMITTEES:
We have a few committees throughout the year that bring our biggest events to fruition. These opportunities will be found through the head of the School. The Golf Committee puts on our Annual golf tournament. The Gifts of Grace Committee works tirelessly towards our biggest yearly event, the Dinner Auction. If you are interested in being a part of one of our committees, please contact pmaynard@slhs.com.
PIP IDEAS: Here are some ways parents have completed their hours in years past.
- Driving for an off-campus event or field trip.
- Baking/cooking/serving food for a fundraiser
- Serving on an SLHS committee. Such as the “Gifts of Grace” event. again, see the Falcon Times.
- Snack shack for sports games
- Ticket sales for sports games.
- Baking for raffles at sports games
- Chain Gang for football games
- Decorating for dances and more!
TIME OR MONEY?:
Some parents have less time. In this case, you can help with random purchases. Instead of a reimbursement, you can turn your receipt in for PIP hours. The ratio is $15 is worth 1 (one) PIP hour. Where this opportunity might arise is in buying groceries for an event. Buying supplies for a dance, etc. These types of PIP opportunities vary but will arise throughout the year. Send an email of your hours and turn in the receipt.
CLASS FUNDRAISERS:
At times throughout the year, your students’ class may have a fundraising opportunity. If this opportunity arises, you should hear from their advisor and/or your student about a need for volunteers. Please contact their Class advisor anytime for more information.
Here are the class advisors.
Class of 2025 Tami Seddon & Andrew Robles
Class of 2024 Kitty Murphy & Brandon Neal
Class of 2023 Heather & Marty Kois
Class of 2022 Eddie Shope & Hannah Krenz
