Football | Fall Sport

HEAD COACH • Justin Barlow
Justin and his team has brought our Football team to new heights this year with a 5 game win streak and 7-1 season. Justin Barlow has been named as the new Head Football Coach (March 2025) at Sierra Lutheran High School, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student-athletes. Coach Barlow has coached for nine seasons at Carson High School, where he spent the last 2 seasons as the defensive coordinator. In 2024 the Senators went 7-5 and advanced to the North semi-finals led by an aggressive and record setting defense that had three shutout victories. Coach Barlow played college football at the University of Nevada, College of San Mateo, and finished his career at Fayetteville State in North Carolina. As a player at Carson High School he was a 2-way first team All-State Offensive and Defensive Lineman, leading the Senators to a Sierra League Championship in 2009. Coach Barlow has also coached numerous championship wrestling teams. Outside of football he is a school counselor, helping students navigate their academic and personal challenges. Justin and his wife Kelsey live in Carson City and have a daughter, Rowan. Coach Barlow is excited to bring his experience, leadership, and passion to the Falcon Football team.

HEAD COACH • Robin Williams
Coach Williams has been a pillar of SLHS athletics for over a decade, bringing passion and dedication to distance running. She is committed to helping every athlete reach their full potential, creating a training environment focused on endurance, discipline, and team spirit. Beyond coaching, Coach Williams goes the extra mile by connecting students with summer opportunities for specialized training in pole vault and other track and field events, ensuring her athletes have every chance to grow and excel year-round.

Girls Volleyball | Fall Sport

HEAD COACH • Dawn Hammer
Coach Hammer has lived and breathed volleyball since her youth, playing at the higher college level before bringing her passion to coaching. She has been a highly successful coach at SLHS, and in 2022 she was awarded the NIAA Volleyball Coach of the Year award. She is dedicated to building a strong, competitive team that fully understands the game of volleyball and is ready to compete physically. Her coaching style combines skill development with leadership training, creating athletes who excel in both the game, team impact and in life.

HEAD COACH • Charlie Berger
Coach Berger’s experience spans many years and multiple sports, but his deep commitment to coaching golf is evident in the growth of the athletes under his guidance. Known for his consistency and dependability, he focuses on making micro adjustments that lower his golfers’ scores over time. He emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, and personal bests, teaching his athletes that they are AmeriCAN, not AmeriCANTS—instilling confidence and determination to help his golfers succeed on and off the course.

HEAD COACH • Rhiannon Latragna
Coach Latragna has built a thriving cheer program at SLHS that includes both sideline cheer and competitive cheer. Her sideline team brings tremendous energy and school spirit to every game and event, rallying the crowd and supporting Falcon athletics with pride. On the competitive side, Coach Latragna has developed athletes who train at a high level, executing impressive stunts, tumbling, and routines that represent SLHS on the competition floor. Under her leadership, there is truly a place for every cheerleader to grow, compete, and be part of something special.

Boys Basketball – Varsity | Winter Sport

HEAD COACH • Eric Schinzing
Coach Schinzing has been an integral part of the SLHS athletic community for over 10 years. A father of two SLHS graduates, he brings passion and extensive coaching experience to the boys’ basketball program. He is known for his creative approach to the game, developing unique plays and strategies that challenge his athletes to think beyond traditional basketball. Coach Schinzing works with the team during the summer to ensure players are fully prepared for the upcoming season. He is dedicated to creating a competitive yet supportive environment where athletes can reach their full potential. Under his leadership, the boys’ basketball team has shown consistent improvement year after year.

Coach Jones has been coaching at SLHS for several years and is dedicated to building a strong, competitive team. A proud father whose son played for SLHS and went on to compete at the college level, he understands what it takes to develop athletes for the next level. He has a unique ability to raise the entire team together—when one player learns, they all level up as a unit. His focus is on developing basketball fundamentals and helping players see the floor, fostering team-oriented play in a positive and disciplined environment. Under his guidance, players grow together and support each other’s development.

HEAD COACH • Charlie Berger
Coach Berger has been a key figure in SLHS athletics for over 10 years, coaching both boys and girls golf, as well as varsity and JV girls basketball. A father of four SLHS graduates who all played sports at SLHS, he brings structure and consistency to every practice and game. He meets athletes at any level and systematically builds them up, helping players see their own potential. Coach Berger develops mental and physical toughness, teaching athletes to compete with confidence and endurance. His philosophy is simple but powerful: do the right thing and be the bigger person. Through his disciplined approach, he fosters growth in character as much as skill.

HEAD COACH • Bill McHenry
Coach McHenry brings his 34 years of coaching experience to the SLHS Ski team. As Athletic Director and multi-sport coach, he championed the ski program and in just a few years, the team has made amazing strides. He loves seeing skiers break barriers and experience the thrill of victory. Coach McHenry is dedicated to building competitive programs that develop well-rounded student-athletes who excel both in their sport and in life.

HEAD COACH • Ryan Fahey
Coach Fahey brings a wealth of knowledge to SLHS as the head baseball coach, applying his experience from coaching at various levels to develop well-rounded athletes. A dedicated baseball dad with a current student at SLHS, he has brought enthusiasm and skill to our players’ arsenal. He emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and fundamental skills to create a competitive yet supportive environment for the players.

HEAD COACH • Candace Harris
Coach Harris has been hired as the first Sierra Lutheran Softball coach, bringing a fresh start to the program. With years of playing experience, she has the ability to develop our students in softball and grow this sport that is new to SLHS. She is dedicated to building a strong foundation for the team and developing athletes who excel both on the field and in their character. More information about Coach Harris and the inaugural season will be announced soon.

HEAD COACH • Charlie Berger
Coach Berger is passionate about making golf accessible to every student at SLHS. He equips young golfers with everything they need to try something new—even providing a full set of clubs to any player who needs them. He believes golf is a lifelong sport that teaches invaluable lessons: patience, focus, discipline, and drive. Coach Berger emphasizes that you get out what you pour in, helping athletes understand that their effort directly shapes their success. Through golf, students learn skills they’ll carry with them far beyond the course.

HEAD COACH • Hannah Krenz
Coach Krenz has been a pillar of SLHS athletics for years, bringing her expertise in track and field to coach athletes in both sprints and distance running. Known for her no-nonsense approach and voice of reason, she is both respected and loved by her athletes. When she’s not teaching math and physics in the classroom, she’s helping her athletes calculate the perfect trajectory for success—applying the same precision and problem-solving skills to develop speed, strength, and endurance on the track.
