On Friday, October 6th, the Sierra Lutheran Cross Country team traveled to Winnemucca for a meet. The race covered 3.1 miles and was run on the Winnemucca Golf Course. Both SLHS boys and girls ran the Varsity race. Three team members won medals. The boys placed as follows: Jared Marchegger 2nd place with a time of 16:36; Teagan Hansen 7th with a time of 17:37; Andreas Gilson 33rd with a time of 20:53 and Zachary Houghton 40th with a time of 24:45, which is a personal record for him. The principal, Dr. Tami Seddon, of Sierra Lutheran High School, announced today that Aleyna Gilson has been named a Commended Student in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented to this scholastically talented senior this past week.
Sierra Lutheran High School’s Girls Golf Team heads to the State Tournament next week in Wendover, NV. The girls have played excellently this season, winning first place as a team in all three matches of the season. Their lowest average of the season was a 380. Individually, Senior Kami Niles has placed 1st two times (with a 79 and 78) and is seeded 1 st in Division 2A; Senior Adyson Casteel placed 1st once with an 88.
