Text Box: NEW CAMPUS PROGRESS REPORT

Word has been received from the Church Extension Fund, the lending institution for our new campus development in north Douglas County, that funds will soon be received to commence construction.  After nearly four years of planning, and several unexpected delays, it’s time for the building to begin.  Praise God!!

In these extraordinarily difficult economic times, we are most grateful to the CEF for their support of the vision to provide a permanent site for Christ-centered, college preparatory education in northwest Nevada.  Loan support will be received in two stages.  Initially, funds from the CEF, together with gifts and pledges received from many during the on-going “Building Bridges…Touching Lives” capital campaign, will provide the resources for off-site improvements (water and sewer lines, road improvements, etc.), and will enable contractors to complete site grading and pouring the foundation for the buildings.  That work is anticipated to begin in February.  Then, in the spring, the balance of the $4.3 million dollar loan will enable contractors to move toward completion of Phase I of the new complex.  God-willing, students and staff will be able to use the new facilities for the second semester of the 2009-2010 school year.

During the months to come, SLHS will continue to seek additional financial support from individuals, churches and organizations from throughout the Carson region.  In recent weeks, one area church has contributed $50,000 to the endeavor, and an anonymous donor has generously given $100,000.  Gifts of $5, $20, $100, and all amounts, together with three and five year pledges of continued support into the future, are all being used by God to advance plans for the permanent site of Sierra Lutheran High School and its educational ministry to teenagers.  If you know of others who might be willing to help, please contact Norm Brauer, Executive Director, at the school (782-0060), or send him an e-mail at normbrauer@clearwire.net.

Thank you for your continued prayers on behalf of the school!  Together, we move forward in faith toward completion of this project that will serve the youth of northwest Nevada for decades to come.
